The evening of Thursday 7th August will bring with it a heavily competitive grudge match. Two teams of legends from the respective nations, England and Germany will face each other at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium. Aired live on ITV4, the match is being played in aid of the British Red Cross’ China Earthquake Appeal and for The Derek Dooley Memorial Cup.
This fixture comes as part of a series of games being played by the England Legends squad, including Bryan Robson, Teddy Sheringham and Paul Merson. Managed by Peter Reid, John Barnes, Stan Collymore and Nigel Winterburn will attempt to defeat the German eleven featuring former Spurs players Steffen Freund and Christian Ziege.
The England side will be out for revenge following the Germans 4-2 victory when the game was played at Reading in 2006. With the history of matches between the two fierce nations always contributing large score lines, anyone attending should be in for a great spectacle.
