Chipped penalties indeed look great when they come off, but they still are rare. Unless you are Italian Graziano Pellè who said after he buried his penalty in the U21 European Championships, “that's the only way I know to shoot a penalty kick.”

4. Helder Postiga 

The Tottenham flop, the Portuguese hero. His cheeeky penalty beat David James and helped send England crash out of Euro 2004. If only he could have shown this skill in the Premiership.

3. Zinedine Zidane

 Zidane before he got himself sent off had the composure to chip his penalty past Buffon and put France ahead in the World Cup Final. However whilst this showed another side to Zidane, his penalty versus England depicted his true class. After netting a wonderful free kick, this goal turned the game on its head. What keeper could save this?

2. Johan Cruyff 

Completely surprising his oppenents, Cruyff netted this extremely clever penalty. Furthermore he inspired the efforts of Henry and Pires, which didn’t go so well!

His confidence can lead to embarrasment but also to magic moments like this. In training the Italian shows his class and skill by backheeling the ball past the keeper, to the envy of all his teammates.
