2. With Arsenal leading Manchester City in the Premier League, the French duo of Robert Pires and Thierry Henry thought they would experiment with the spot kick. Pires decided instead of just shooting he would tap it to his team mate. However when he failed to connect with the ball, the referee duly awarded a free kick against him for hitting the ball twice.

Amidst the US celebrations, singer Diana Ross only had to kick the ball towards the goal, with the net then cued to split down the middle.
