In the last game of the 2000/01 season, against rivals Valencia CF, Rivaldo scored a hat-trick to win the game 3-2.

Rivaldo - In the last game of the 2000/01 season, against rivals Valencia CF, Rivaldo scored a hat-trick to win the game 3-2. His third goal was an overhead kick from the edge of the area in the last moments of the game. The win secured Barcelona a place in the following year’s UEFA Champions League. This acrobatic effort is now regarded as one of his greatest goals ever. The combination of huge significance and pure skill was enough to secure the number 1 spot in this list.

Ronaldinho – Against fellow Spanish side Villareal the Brazillian international Ronaldinho scored his 50th league goal for Barcelona in front of a home crowd. After completing this milestone Ronaldinho made even more headlines with an outstanding overhead kick goal. After controlling the ball with his chest, he beat the helpless opposition keeper. He later said that it was a goal he had dreamed of scoring since he was a little boy.

Trevor Sinclair – Perhaps not the usual name that one would expect in a list such as this. Accompanied by South Americans, the English midfielder stunned many when he netted a fabulous bicycle kick in 1997. Deservedly he won the BBC's Match of the Day "Goal of the Season" competition with his overhead kick while playing for QPR in an FA Cup match against Barnsley.

Peter Crouch – Standing 6 ft 7 inches tall, Crouch shocked all viewers when he scored an overhead kick versus Galatasaray in the Champions League.  The tallest man ever to play for either Liverpool or the England national team helped the Merseyside club win 3-2 with a magnificent goal.

Pele – Where would a top 10 list be without the name of Edson Pele? Despite scoring over 1000 career goals, his bicycle kick against Belgium in 1968 perfectly reflects the legendary Brazilian's athleticism, skill and grace.

Hugo Sanchez – Not only did Hugo Sanchez net many overhead kicks but in fact in México the acrobatic skill is now named "Huguina" in reference to the legendery striker. His most famous and highest regarded was his shot against Logrones for Spanish side Real Madrid.

Marco Van Basten - The former Ajax player is probably best remembered for his incredible volley at Euro 88. However, his equally spectacular goal for Ajax displayed the Dutchman’s quality. Against Den Bosch Van Basten converted a cross with a fantastic overhead kick.

Youri Djorkaeff - The former French international is famous for his technique, pace and fancy and effective dribbling. During his spell at Italian team Inter Milan, the attacking midfielder scored an amazing goal. Against AS Roma in 1997, Djorkaeff converted an incredible bicylce kick.

Mauro Bressan - Not the most famous footballer in history, Bressan came to fame with a fabulous overhead kick against Barcelona from outside the penalty area. After 14 minutes he scored what is considered one of the greatest goals of all time, a spectacular 25 yard bicycle kick. An ITV program on the 50 greatest champions league goals had it at number 2, behind Zinedine Zidane's winning volley against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2001-2002 final.

Rodrigo Taddei – Known mainly for his bizarre dribbling style and skills, Taddei showed off his scissor kick goal versus Cagliari in Serie A late in 2006. His perfect contact with the cross sent the ball flying into the top corner.
