Tonight England manager has announced his squad for the upcoming national matches. Included are Theo Walcott, Jimmy Bullard, Joleon Lescott and Robert Green; the latter saving a penalty at the weekend. Bullard makes his first appearence in the national squad and replaces the injured Steven Gerrard and Owen Hargreaves. Surprisingly Walcott and Lescott come in for Michael Owen and Jonathan Woodgate, who both seemed obvious choices. Peter Crouch once again misses out but Wigan forward Emile Heskey makes the selected 23. The upcoming fixtures are against Andorra and Croatia. The Beijing Olympics has provided many exciting moments, none more so than Usain Bolt’s incredible sprint successes and Michael Phelps domination in the swimming pool. The Olympics men’s football final takes place tomorrow and will be competed between Argentina and Nigeria. The South American side knocked out rivals Brazil in the semi final winning 3-0 whereas the Nigeria thrashed Belgium 4-1 to reach the Gold metal contest. The Premier League season 2008/09 kicked off over the weekend. Reigning Champions Manchester United were held at home against Newcastle, with rivals Chelsea storming to a confident 4-0 win versus Portsmouth. Hull started their Premiership campaign with a win, as did the new Premiership manager Paul Ince who governed his side to a late 3-2 win. The team tipped to break into the top four, Tottenham started disappointingly with a loss to Middlesbrough.
